Top 10 Running Songs for Spring

Changing your running playlist is one of the best, most efficient ways to breathe life back into your running routine. That, and new clothing or sneakers — both of which I was toting on Tuesday morning’s run.

But first, flashback to Monday morning for just a brief moment. Confession: I gave myself the day to rest after waking up at 6AM (I set the alarm earlier just to make sure I could run) and feeling my body fill with boulders. Allergies? Post-day-long road trip fatigue? Whatever it was, I was exhausted, and I knew that no workout would be worth the agony of peeling myself out of bed.

And so, after a solid 7 consecutive days of exercise, one of which consisted of a double header (a 3-miler in the morning and boot camp at night) followed by 3 5-mile days and a shorter run on Sunday, I rested. I slept in. I woke up only to shower, do my hair, throw on silky pants, and go to the office. I’d say I need to do that more often, but truth be told, I don’t. No, not at all. But once in a while, when I really, truly need it, it’s oh-so very worth it.

In anticipation of fatigue, I set up a running date with @beth1126 for Tuesday morning, but to my pleasant surprise, I woke up on my own at 6:30 with far more energy than I had the day before. Maybe, it really was the exhaustion of daily exercise and 6 hours in the car.

Regardless, I had already set up a new playlist to complement my Central Park run.

And while I didn’t wind up using it on Tuesday morning, as I’d replace JT with actual human conversation, I nevertheless wanted to share it with you. After all, there’s a good chance this is what will end up blaring through my headphones later down the road this week.

Below are my top 10 running songs for spring 2013, best played while looking at views like this.
